The Event Tent by the Bay reconnects Manila’s residents with its riverfront.

The structure rises on the horizon with a series of upturned half pyramids resembling a regatta of paraws, traditional Philippine sailboats. We designed a hexagonal roof unit out of folded steel plates, with one asymmetrical column that can be arranged into a necklace with many centers of activity. The structure works with tessellated triangular forms, making both a field and an enclosure.

Our design attempts to redress the absence of an active and accessible urban waterfront in this coastal metropolis.
