Baguio Apartment Complex
How might we integrate sustainability in luxury?
Manila, Philippines
Schematic Design
The Baguio Apartment Complex sensitively integrates luxury residences into the heavily wooded landscape of Baguio, Benguet.
The complex is set between two of the Philippines’ most beloved green spaces: the Presidential Mansion and the Baguio Country Club Village. Each room within the complex features a view of one of three picturesque vistas: the Mansion, the Country Club golf course, or the Cordillera Mountains.
Great care was taken to preserve the environment of local Benguet pines that surround the residences. The main residential spaces of the structure are lifted above the terrain, minimizing deforestation while also nodding to the traditional building techniques of the Ifugao houses indigenous to the area.
CAZA designed the facility to weave through the existing trees, meandering around the forest rather than disrupt the environment totally. Raw concrete and sustainable pinewood contribute to the complex’s integration with its environment.
